. . . concerning the pending sale of E.F. Kalmus to Lauren Keiser Music.

The Kalmus catalog, including the imprints Ludwig Music Publishing Co., Masters Music Publications (later merged into LudwigMasters), the Well-Tempered Press and some other smaller imprints associated with the Ludwig catalog are all being sold. Even so the eventual sale will not include all titles formerly listed. With E.F. Kalmus, Masters and Well-Tempered Press, a substantial portion of the catalog was in the public domain and therefore can be reprinted and sold by anyone (and indeed many titles can be downloaded for free at IMSLP). Moreover, Luck's Music already has a fair number of these items in print as does Serenissima Music. Despite what some may say, the public domain is not subject to copyright or exclusive ownership.

Serenissima is now the exclusive copyright owner for the editions, arrangements and (in some cases) the original compositions of Clark McAlister (including the seven pseudonyms used at Kalmus, et al), Clint Nieweg and all of the associated editors for the Nieweg series, Lucas Drew and (naturally) myself. None of the works of these editors, arrangers or composers are available from Kalmus or Lauren Keiser and should be ordered only from Serenissima or your favorite dealer.
