Ermington Parish record showing the christening of William Sherewill son of Adam and Marye in 1635
This is a copy of the microfiche in the Devon Record Office in Exeter. Not only is the handwriting difficult to read but this record is the most faintly written one on the page; only the name "Marye" is really dark enough to identify it. Look just below the blemish about half way down. I believe that this record is for William, the father of William (the Conestoga Trader, born 17 November 1666) and grandfather of Adam the Pioneer. I have also confirmed, from other records of this type, the marriage of Adam and Marye (16 July 1632), and two christenings: Honour (30 June 1639) and Marye (9 July 1643), siblings of William.
While this copy may not be convincing, I can assure you that the original record is legible enough to read with certainty. The text states the following:

The 7th of June William the son of Adam
Sherewill and Marye his wife was baptized

If you're planning to study these records, allow a lot of time because, as you can see, it is a very tiedious process to find and read these original records.
